The Core Center in Molecular Toxicology currently has 23 Center Investigators. Some of the major areas of focus include the toxicity of manganese and other metals (transport, redox states, and relationship to events in oxidative stress), the application of mass spectrometry protein imaging to applications in disease states, structural biology of damaged DNA interactions with polymerases, several aspects of DNA crosslinking, basic mechanisms of cytochrome P450 and other enzymes, the use of biomarkers of oxidative stress and application to several disease states, and mechanisms of lipid peroxidation of relevance to oxidative stress.
